Notting Hill Apartment
London | Residential | 2025
This residential apartment, nestled in the heart of Notting Hill, was designed to serve as a minimalist family home for a young, professional couple. The client wanted the design to reflect their lifestyle by blending both functionality and aesthetics. The space features a sophisticated blend of black, white and dark wood tones, complemented with iconic, timeless design pieces.

The design process began with an in-depth consultation with the client to understand their needs, lifestyle and vision for the space. A key requirement was to incorporate hidden storage solutions, so that unnecessary clutter wouldn’t disrupt the apartment’s sleek appearance during daily activities. The client also wanted to use a consistent material palette throughout the apartment - travertine and smoked oak - to provide a coherent feel.

Additionally, we focused on carefully selecting lighting features to create a moody atmosphere throughout the home. Iconic lamps were carefully chosen for each room to enhance the ambiance.

The concept of play and game was central to the design theme, which is why elements like a checkered rug and personalised artwork reflecting interests of the client were included. The apartment features Formula 1 photography and a painting of an ace card, which adds a fun and unique touch to the space.
The layout was carefully planned to maximise functionality while maintaining an open and airy flow. We selected high-quality, timeless furniture pieces that fit the client’s needs, ensuring each piece served a functional purpose without taking up unnecessary space. Custom storage solutions were designed for the bedrooms, hallway, kitchen, bathroom and living room, all tailored to keep the apartment tidy and organised without compromising its sleek aesthetic.

With minimalist design, it’s easy to fall into the trap of creating spaces that feel cold, empty and impersonal. However, we believe that minimalism is about making the most of less. To avoid this pitfall, we designed bespoke furniture tailored specifically to the client’s needs and introduced natural textures and materials throughout the apartment. This approach created a warm and inviting atmosphere, with the apartment retaining its own unique personality.

The final design resulted in a serene and functional home that perfectly aligned with the client’s vision. The minimalist approach not only created a calm environment but also made the space feel more expansive and open. The careful balance of light and dark tones, along with thoughtfully chosen design pieces, gave the apartment a timeless quality that will continue to evolve with the client’s needs.

How do I get started with my interior design project?Getting started with your interior design project is simple! Just reach out to us for a free online or in person initial consultation. In this meeting, we’ll discuss your ideas, goals and vision for your space. From there, we'll guide you through the next steps and begin crafting a personalised design plan tailored to your needs.
-
What Should I Know Before the Initial Consultation? To make the most out of our first meeting and kick-start your project, we suggest thinking about and bringing the following: Your Goals: What exactly are we designing? Is it a single room, a full home renovation or something in between? Understanding your vision for the project helps us define a clear direction. Budget: Consider both the overall construction budget and the amount you're comfortable allocating for the design services. This ensures we tailor solutions that fit within your financial plans. Timeline: Think about any specific deadlines or desired completion dates. This helps us establish realistic milestones for the project. Personal Preferences: Consider any specific materials, colours or features you want to include. Do you prefer a certain style (modern, traditional, minimalist)? Are there any must-have items or features, such as built-in storage or specific furniture pieces? Challenges or Concerns: If there are any particular challenges or constraints with the space (lighting, size, storage, etc.), make a note of them so we can discuss how to address them during the consultation. Floor Plans & Photos: If possible, bring any existing floor plans or measurements of the space. Photos (especially if it’s not a site visit) are also helpful in understanding the current layout and condition of the space. Inspirational Images: If you have any images that reflect the style or mood you want for your space, bring them along. This helps us better understand your preferences and vision. In our first meeting, we’ll discuss your goals, explain our design process, and guide you on the next steps to make your vision a reality.
-
How much does interior design cost? The cost of interior design can vary depending on the scope and complexity of your project. Factors like the size of the space, level of customisation, and the specific services you require all play a role in determining the price. For smaller projects, such as a single room redesign or a consultation, costs are typically lower. For larger projects, like full home renovations or bespoke furniture design, the cost will be higher due to the level of detail and involvement required. We offer tailored design packages and we are happy to provide an estimate after discussing your goals, budget, and timeline during an initial consultation. This helps us ensure we propose the best solutions within your budget. Feel free to schedule a free initial consultation so we can better understand your project and provide a personalised quote.
